And the winner is . . .

We are delighted to announce that Colin Johnston has won our 'Working away in rural Scotland' photo competition theme with 'Counting Sheep at Cnip Grazings'.

This photo was taken in June 2007 at Cnip community sheep grazing meeting on the Isle of Lewis. If you click on the picture you will be taken to a larger version.

Norette Ferns, Rural Gateway editor said, "We had some great submissions to the 'Working away in rural Scotland' theme. We felt that Colin Johnston really captured a moment in a working day with this shot. We also liked the composition of this photo. You can appreciate it better by clicking on the image to see a larger version. Look out for a great gallery, featuring the best submissions to this theme coming soon."

Our runner up for ''Working away in rural Scotland' is this atmospheric shot 'Salmon netter' taken by Tom Dalziel. The photo was taken on St Cyrus beach, in the North-East last year. We think the light is great.

Next up - Going wild in rural Scotland

Our photo competition for 2008, has six themes with closing dates staggered throughout the year. Our next closing date is for the theme 'Going wild in rural Scotland' on 29th June 2008.
