It was great to meet so many readers at SLA in Seattle last month – and thanks to all the well-wishers who came up following the opening awards ceremony. I blush, but your recognition truly makes all our hard work worthwhile.
Some changes are afoot again at ResourceShelf and DocuTicker. Some software-related challenges prompted a quick change in our site layout – which many have commented positively on (crisis = opportunity). We’re also making some plans for additional resources in the fall, including a new DocuTicker publication, the Grey Guide. Stay tuned for more info, and if you’re not yet on the DocuTicker mailing list, it’s free to subscribe.
Have suggestions? Send ‘em in! We love picking up on user ideas and running with them!
Cheers,
Gary Price

Off the Shelf: Great Collections in ResourceShelf
- Legal Resources
June featured a ‘legal theme’ to many Free Pint Limited publications, particularly June’s VIP Magazine, which included a comparative review of LexisNexis Butterworths and Westlaw UK, plus a review of CCH from Wolters Kluwer. Searching ResourceShelf with the term ‘law’ or ‘legal’ pulls up a range of useful resources.
- Social Media
Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Flickr… whatever your social medium of choice, you’ll find something of interest in our Social Media category. For a hands-on guide to choosing and implementing social media tools within your organization, check out the new FUMSI ‘Share’ Report: Social Media Tools Report and Tool Kit.
- People Search
Finding people who meet particular criteria – or hooking up with a long-lost buddy – seems to be a perpetual question for users of the Web. Our collection of resources on ‘People Search’ can help.
- Glossaries
Specialized language abounds in every field. Sometimes knowing the right terms to search makes all the difference in a bountiful fishing expedition and a washout. Our collection of glossaries can help you zero in on the lingo you need.

On the Ticker: Best of DocuTicker
- Legal and Law Enforcement
ResourceShelf is not the only place to get legal and law-related information. DocuTicker has a dedicated category to the topic, covering local, state, federal and some international law.
- Food and Agriculture
We’ve written a couple of times recently about global food shortages. Read what think tanks, governments, humanitarian aid centers and agricultural agencies have published on this topic of world importance.
- United Kingdom
Our new UK-based editor will be starting to post to DocuTicker in September! In the meantime, we continue to try to keep up with at least a handful of UK-based resources, and we look forward to bringing you more.
