What’s Hot At Online Information 2006?
The annual Online Information event is just around the corner (28 – 30 November, Grand Hall, Olympia, London) and once again will provide a platform for numerous new product launches and announcements.
Launch highlights include:
* Applied Network Solutions will be showing the new Amlib web based version which is a library management system used in special, public, health and school libraries.
* On the Bailey Solutions Ltd stand visitors can see the latest KnowAll version 4, which includes a new interactive welcome screen, topic alerts and an improved look and feel throughout.
* Blackwell Publishing will be showing Blackwell Reference Online, which is a vast new online library giving instant access to the most authoritative and up-to-date scholarship across the humanities and social sciences. With almost 300 volumes, it is the largest academic reference collection available online.
* Datacare Business Systems will be launching the latest generation of the Datacare Searchable Online Media Archive (SOMA) which uses METS XML Schema to deliver archival material in a format ready to ingest into content XML repositories.
* DocZone.com will be demonstrating the newest release of its integrated ‘Software as a Service’ platform that includes XML authoring, content management, workflow, translation memory, and single-source publishing in 68 languages.
* Global business information publisher, Euromonitor International will be launching two new products at the show. As well as launching a new internet database, ‘Countries & Consumers’, they will be demonstrating a new web interface for their flagship business information resource, the ‘Global Market Information Database (GMID)’ at stand 630.
* Encyclopaedia Britannica (UK) Ltd will be giving visitors a sneak preview of the TALMOS Britannica teaching and learning resource designed for secondary schools, which is officially being launched in 2007.
* On the Institute of Physics Publishing stand visitors can see new journal titles such as: Bioinspiration and Biometrics, Environmental Research Letters and Europhysics Letters (EPL).
* The IET (Institution of Engineering and Technology) will announce five new publications and a major development of its Digital Library platform at the event. The new publications will widen the scope of the Institution’s prestigious research journals and take the total of such publications to 22.
* Ingenta will release news of its new subscription management tool, which will make the process of online subscription activation quicker and smoother, and improve its publishers' subscription management capabilities.
* ISSN International Centre will use the event to present a preview of the ISSN Portal, a new version of the ISNN Register. The ISNN Portal will provide users with technical improvements and new services, and demos will take place on the stand.
* LASON’s eContent MAX will launch its proprietary ACETmax Process focused on Analyzing, Capturing, Enhancing and Transforming clients’ content, maximizing their return on investment. The process delivers both discrete services and high value integrated solutions that comprise the publishing cycle.
* MPS Technologies will be attending this year's event to present beta sites for its first BookStore clients, as well as to launch ScholarlyStats Integration, the integration of its library usage collection service with other vendor systems.
* Ovid Technologies will be showing the new Books Purchase Model and LWW Legacy Archives.
* SirsiDynix will be launching the Corinthian/Horizon 8.0. Built expressly for distributed computing in a multi-tiered environment, Horizon 8.0 incorporates the latest advances in integrated library system (ILS) technology designed to securely integrate with services and applications in an enterprise network.
* Stilo will be launching its 2007 catalogue of e-Publishing solution components and associated packaged services - for use by those responsible for implementing e-Publishing solutions, including system integrators, solution architects, application developers and publishing managers.
* At Online 2006 SydneyPLUS will be demonstrating Information Manager v 3.2 This customizable information management solution offers personalized customer content from a single point of access.
* Thieme Publishing will present the latest releases of Science of Synthesis 3.2, and Pharamceutical Substances 2.4. Science of Synthesis is one of the most in-depth authoritative information sources available on synthetic methodology. The online product makes use of the latest developments in information technology and is equipped with a powerful and user-friendly information-retrieval system. Pharmaceutical Substances is designed to be a complete reference guide to every pharmaceutical compound of significance. Amongst the many innovations in the newly created electronic product is the ability to search the structures contained in the synthetic schemes graphically.
* On the TDNet e-Resource Management stand visitors can see the newly released e-Book Manager, which can be integrated into Journal Manager or provided as a stand alone. Its data becomes part of TDNet’s Master Knowledgebase.
* VYRE will be launching Unify V4.3 which includes the unique content replication module SCORE, online video editing plus advanced localisation and translation features.
