Ready for Trial: Exalead Launches Preview Beta of New Version

The Exalead team in Paris has just released a PREVIEW version of an upcoming updated version of their feature-filled (a treasure chest for advanced searchers) product. It’s just live in the past few hours but sure looks like a good overview review in the coming week. Let’s give them a week/10 days or so to get any kinks worked out and we will then give it a once over.

To take a look for yourself go to:
http://preview.exalead.com/ and use the login: beta.

The “about” page mentions that the company plans to continue expanding their index to 8 million pages and also grow their image index.

Quick facts about Exalead:
+ New color scheme
+ Continues to provide proximity operator (only large engine to do so)
+ Cool, useful, and personalized home page feature remains. In fact, it’s even easier to use. Exalead’s Smart Bookmarks also remain. Very cool! Check the Smart Bookmarks section for instructions.

+ Interface: Many of the refinement features located in V.1 are still there but they’re now located in right rail (above ads) and found after clicking “more choices.” Nice to have an option to make them visible at all times without requiring an extra click.

Until we take a more in-depth look at the preview, you can learn more from these help pages and a great overview of version 1.0 from Mary-Ellen Bates.
